A Rich History of Booming Business

Chino Valley has a proud history as the first Territorial Capital of Arizona, dating back to 1864 when Union troops were sent by Abraham Lincoln to guard the western U.S. from a Confederate incursion.  From the time the Union troops arrived until 1925, Chino Valley had a progressive and booming railroad business, but after the railroad boom, residents of Chino took to farming and ranching as an alternative, due to the town’s rich soil.  The economic growth hasn’t slowed—with agriculture, retail, and commercial industry, all coming together in a mix of small business, service industry, and large corporations, the job market in Chino Valley is thriving.

Parks and Recreation

The town of Chino Valley has no shortage of fun things to do.  Whether it be staying active in the Arizona sunshine or taking a wine tour through its gorgeous vineyards, Chino can make any day an adventure!  The possibilities for outdoor activities and recreation are essentially endless—with several parks and ball fields to choose from, and even volleyball and tennis courts!  Maybe you’re wanting a bit more wilderness while enjoying the outdoors?  Chino Valley’s Woodchute Mountain offers miles of hiking, horseback riding, and biking trails amongst gorgeous views that are just waiting to be discovered.  There is even an extensive community center system, offering a recreation for everyone from children to seniors, and everyone in between.  Chino Valley’s Aquatic Center is another communal gem, featuring an outdoor pool and even a waterslide!  So, come to Chino, where the possibilities are limitless!

Exceptional Education

The Chino Valley Unified School District is home to four schools—including Territorial Elementary (an Arizona Benchmark School), Del Rio Elementary (which was proudly named a National Blue-Ribbon School), Heritage Middle, and Chino Valley High—and serves the students of greater Chino Valley to an exceptionally outstanding education.  To help further the potential of all of our students, CVHS partners with the local community college in Chino Valley, Yavapai College, to offer dual enrollment programs, allowing high school students to obtain college credit!  The local high school in Chino also boasts an award-winning Future Farmers of America (FFA) program.  While the public schools in Chino Valley are beyond extraordinary, there are also two local charter schools in Chino—Mingus Springs and Excel Education Center—both offering an alternative to public education while maintaining comparable educational opportunities.  The educational opportunities in Chino Valley are unparalleled and our residents are truly proud of our students and what the future holds for them!
